Budgeting as a couple
Shared goals, clear roles and some money of your own.
Money is one of the most common things couples argue about. A shared budget turns it into a plan you make together.
Choose a setup
- Fully joint: all income in one pot
- Partly joint: a shared account for bills and goals, plus personal accounts
- Separate: each pays agreed shares of shared costs
Make it work
- Agree on shared goals first
- Give each person some no-questions-asked money
- Decide who handles which bills
- Hold a short, calm money check-in each month
